This site out of China has put a pretty cool spin on the Google Maps formula by introducing a sort of Sim City isometric view. I find that I actually really like the aesthetics of it; it feels a bit cleaner than the Google SketchUp-created 3D cities we currently have. I also feel that simplifying the buildings into more iconic landmarks, it almost makes navigation easier to be (Street View on Google Maps is crazy helpful, but also seems to be a bit of info-overload sometimes).
So a little less than a week ago, The SciFi Channel made the final rebrand switch to SyFy. Proud Creative was appointed lead agency (out of four) in charge of the full rebrand. Hit up their site for an overview of everything from on-screen promos to off-screen posters to the custom typeface they had designed. It’s a pretty interesting overview that anyone who enjoys tinkering with a rebrand should check-out. I think all the teams involved did a great job creating a memorable and cohesive brand.

Ran across this neat little Photoshop plugin online. Yes, we all know how to use the patch/clone/heal trio, but if this automatically does it, it could be quite nice to have around. Haven’t tried it out yet, but it looks like it could come in handy once in a while.

And with that, on 7/7/09, Come Up 7 Clothing Company has launched. The brainchild of a one Mr. Johnny Pockets, CU7 evolved after some horrid Brazilians stole some of Mr. Pocket’s designs from the internet, put them on a shirt, and sell them. That’s when Jon thought he should just put his own designs on some shirts and sell them himself. Enter Come Up 7.

Cool student film using HP InkJet printers (hit the link since the video is sadly unembeddable).

When I first ready the headline of PV.M Garage’s retro website roundup, I assumed it was some sort of collection of mid-1990s, Geocities-esque webdesign. I was, however, happy to see that it was actually a collection of awesome faded, papery, distressed retro web designs.
