Seriously, how awesome are these cards by Chet Phillips?

Brands of the World is largely considered (by me…and possibly others) to be one of the most important branding sites on the web. BotW serves as a hub for logos, but often goes above and beyond by allowing you to nab .eps versions of the logo for your own use/research.
But, ironically, for a branding site, their own logo/branding wasn’t that great. Until recently. Pop over and check out their recent relaunch.

Media Design Blueprint made a post collecting 60 awesome vintage textures for designers to use. Pretty neat stuff, although I feel a lot of the textures are quite photoshopped already and function almost more as visual inspiration than anything else. Still: be inspired.
When the robots rise up and humans flee to the sea only to be wiped out, we’ll have Disney to blame. Aside from that, this is pretty cool, especially for something made a decade ago.
Sweet video shot up at Timberline Lodge with a really sweet, simple effect. Gives snowboarding/skateboarding in the video an oddly tangible, dimensional feel. I’d like to see a “making of” and see how exactly they pulled off the effect.

Slash Film has a neat post up detailing the beginnings of a little movie studio known as Pixar that showcases some of their early work. Remember those commercials for Gummi Savers? Would you have imagined you were watching a Pixar production at the time?

Alex CF is an artist that I’ve discovered, forgotten about, and then rediscovered again multiple times. I’m not really even sure how to clarify his work, but I totally dig it. Hit the jump for some more info and some of my favorite works. Read the rest of this entry »
