Frank Lloyd Wright 2.0

franklloydwrightlegoarchitecture2 How neat are these? Apparently The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation approached LEGO about doing these models and things took off. Looks like they’re being created in conjunction with the FLW Foundation, Brick Structures, and the new Lego Architecture brand. Two of the six planned Lego Architecture models are Falling Water and the Guggenheim Museum of New York. Hit the jump for a picture of the second model, as well as a melding of the worlds of Frank Lloyd Wright…and videogames.

“The LEGO product was one that the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation had considered pursuing for several years. It was the vision, passion and creative desire of Adam Reed Tucker to capture the essence of Mr. Wright’s most famous buildings using the medium of the LEGO brick that brought this partnership into being.” -Doug Volker of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation

franklloydwrightlegoarchitecture1I can’t seem to track down any concrete information on when/where these will be available. One article seemed to suggest that they’ll be for sale at the Guggenheim in New York. I would hope that as part of a new Lego line they’re available at other places as well. Seeing these also reminded me of this video of Falling Water recreated in the Half Life 2 engine. The game engine allows for a much richer environment than I’ve seen available with actual architecture drafting programs. I think it would be neat to see architects use this sort of presentation type in the future.
