Open Source Food
What does this delicious-looking dish have to do with anything? Hit the jump to find out.
What you see at the top of this post is an embeddable recipe from Nibbledish.com (once known as Open Source Food). Essentially, Nibble Dish is the MySpace+Wikipedia of the recipe world. It allows people to create recipes, take pictures, share them, and vote on recipes made by others. I think Nibble Dish has a lot of room to grow and I look forward to seeing where it will go. The embeddable recipes are a neat idea…although I can’t imagine they’d be used much. I just don’t see people embedding recipes all over their MySpace profile like so many YouTube videos.
One thing I think could be easily fixed is a better way to manage multiple parts of recipes. For example: some recipes have a glaze/sauce that goes with them, but Nibble Disk currently forces all ingredients into the same “ingredient box,” leading to convoluted recipes.
However, the site is neat. Go check it out and poke around. You might find something as crazy as a peanut-butter bacon burger. If you find any delicious/weird recipes, feel free to leave them in the comments.
