You Be the Judge: 2009 Logo Trends

2k9logosCheck out Graphic Design Blog’s look at logo trends of 2009. In my opinion, there doesn’t seem to be very many solid “trends” that one can point out such as the recent years of globes and “gloop.” I also don’t think “typographic logos” are really a “trend,” those kind of strike me as something that exist all the time. But…those points aside, still an article worth taking a peek at. Thoughts? Other logo trends you’ve spotted. Get thee to the comments!

Also…for a graphic design blog, I feel the element positioning on the right should definitely be fixed in Safari. Is anyone else seeing that?

You are correct, they REALLY need to fix their rendering issues with the sidebar. I think the problem is the left column being pushed way too far over to the right with padding or a margin.

This blog also seems to suffer from the problem of not properly utilizing truncated posts for the main page. I hate having to scroll through what feels like ten miles of images just to get to the next post. Shame on them.

Anyhow, I think there are some cool examples up on their site, but I don’t think any of it is specific to 2009. If anything it’s more of a “continuation of logo trends over the past three years”, or in some cases, the past several decades.

OH YES, the link…that would probably help… (*fix*)

Also odd: after this discussion of their site design, the sidebar appears to be fixed. viva la SDD! Look what we did, guys!

@Evan — I agree. Neat examples, yes, but I don’t feel like they’re 2009-specific.
